Sorbent Properties of Orange Peel-Based Biochar for Different Pollutants in Water

نویسندگان

چکیده

Efficient and reasonable utilization of waste biomass resources can not only avoid serious material resources, but also solve the problem environmental pollution. Therefore, development efficient environmentally friendly carbonization technology has important practical significance. Here, activated carbon from orange peel (OAC) is prepared by potassium hydroxide (KOH) activation combined with high-temperature carbonization. The adsorption effects OAC on three different pollutant aqueous solutions, methylene blue (MB), tetracycline (TC), fluorescein sodium (NaFL), are examined. absorbent excellent capacity for MB, TC, NaFL pollutants 10 mg L−1, rates 99.17%, 73.5%, 94.24%, respectively. This study provides a new idea turning into treasure eliminating hidden danger

Removal of Acid Dyes from Aqueous Solutions Using Orange Peel as a Sorbent Material

An agricultural by-product waste: orange peel was tested for the removal of four acid dyes from aqueous solutions in batch conditions. As results obtained, kinetics of dyes sorption was time of contact, initial dyes concentration and dyes type dependent. The pseudo second-order reaction rate model adequately described the kinetics of dyes sorption with high correlation coefficients. Langmuir mo...

Characterizing Biochar as Alternative Sorbent for Oil Spill Remediation

Biochar (BC) was characterized as a new carbonaceous material for the adsorption of toluene from water. The tested BC was produced from pine wood gasification, and its sorption ability was compared with that of more common carbonaceous materials such as activated carbon (AC). Both materials were characterized in terms of textural features and sorption abilities by kinetic and equilibrium tests....

Phytochemical Screening of Orange Peel and Pulp

The oranges were purchased from the local market of Bela. The orange peel and pulp were subjected to successive extraction with solvents in increasing order of their polarity viz. Acetone, hexane, methanol and distilled water. Orange peel and pulp powder was extracted separately by aqueous extraction. Phytochemical analysis indicated the presence of tannins, saponins etc. Anthraquiones were com...
